I have been using the Arlo system for about a year now and have had no problems at all but today I wanted to replace a camera that was failing. I removed it from my list of devices and then went to add the brand new replacement but cannot, for the life of me, get it to connect.

I have tried everything including looking through these help pages. I originally touched the sync button on the side of the base station then on the camera and after ten seconds the blue flashing light turned amber, then after a few seconds stopped. The base station still showed a flashing green light so I tried the camera again. Same result. After checking through the help pages, I tried the factory two-button reset but couldn't get the amber lights to light up at all, in fact I still had two green lights. I restarted the base station and still got the same issue but now I'll have to re-sync all my cameras and I cannot get even one to sync!

Before I throw it all in the bin and forget about it, has anyone got any suggestions that might work?

Use the reset button on the new base and start fresh - maybe it's stuck in a weird mode. Might be worth opening and closing battery doors, too.

Yup - the current factory reset procedure is to use the reset button by itself; there's no longer the need to use the sync button, too.  As for syncing the camera issue, I don't understand why it wouldn't work unless you were holding the sync button too long (over 10 seconds or so).  Your description sounds like you weren't doing that so I doubt it's the issue.

Let us know how the proper factory reset works out.

I tried the single (hole) factory reset and although the base station shows on my account, it now states it's offline and I cannot get anything to recognise anything.

Have contacted customer support but in the meantime I've ordered a brand new system from Amazon (says will be here tomorrow) and will start from scratch hoping that at least my account will find the base station and I'll see how I get on from there.

I suspect the camera did not have a fault after all and that the base station was on its way out. I'll know more tomorrow. (And yes, I only touched the sync button for about a millisecond. I had also tried holding it in for longer, was frustration creeping in!)

Have the Premium Account subscription so will hang in there for now.

Once reset you also need to remove the base from your account and then use the Add Device button on the Cameras tab. Did you do that?

Thanks, I did that. Got new system and although the base station now registers I still cannot get any of my four cameras to sync with it. It was working up until Saturday and nothing has changed so I can't understand why I can't get anyhting working.

Netgear's expert had this helpful advice:

'Touch the sync button on the base station and wait until it flashes green then press sync on the camera. When it flashes blue the camera is syncing with the base station. If you have any other problems, please check out the community'.!! They obviously didn't read anything I had written and gave a stock answer, makes me feel stupid.

And they call themselves experts?!

Thanks for sticking with this, I've finally got it working again.

I fixed up my Devolo mains adaptor wifi/ethernet set connected/cloned from my Virgin router in the living room downstairs to an upstairs empty bedroom very near to the camera's site. After factory setting the base station yet again, removing it and then finding it again on my account I tried the camera sync for the hundreth time and.......it worked!

It must have been all the wifi congestion with added bluetooth signals that are in with the mess of cables near my main tv and router that caused the camera and base station to not see each other. Firmware updates have been applied and so now, I'm not going to go near it ever again.

Many thanks.

I tryed reseting everything and only one camera is working.  The other two cameras still will not sync.  This is a brand new setup right out of the box.  Could it be possible that the batteries are bad?

jalbright51,

It is possible. Consider trying the batteries from the working camera in one of the cameras that will not sync to isolate the issue.
