Love the cameras and their features. What batteries are best for the Arlo? I just purchased the energizer brand and havent used my camera yet, the battery life went from 100% to 4 % in a week. What is causing the battery life to shrink? The camera or the batteries?

Any of the major OEM 123 cells are basically the same... Panasonic., duracells, energizer...
From online they cost above $1.50 +/- per.
But really they should not be lasting a week...something's wrong.
Mine on OEM cells with best video last almost 4 months.... some very low level use cameras run almost 7 months.
Excessive battery usage can come down to a few items... low signal from base, interference to the signal, bad batteries, hardware issues, and over usage.
With the information you supply, it's hard to determine the cause. If you have access to a voltmeter, new oem cells are 3.2v and after the camera are near doa about 2.75v
You say you haven't use the cameras, but if you set them up and turned off the base that also would drain the batteries... so if your base is off, pull the battereis from the cameras

first of all if you're in a country where you can get the recommended tenergy rechargeable batteries (nitecore are also good), that's a long term good investment.
Now two reasons your batteries can go down quickly (beside defective cam or batteries) are:
the cam is not able to keep a good signal between cam and base station either because of distance or interference. Constantly trying to reconnect can eat up your battery.
You may be recording a lot, either from motion detector or manual recordings. How many recordings of which length were made in this period?
I would try opening, then reclosing the battery door, not pushing down the batteries (making sure they're in with right polarity) but letting closing the battery door properly seating them.
Might also want to reboot your base station in case battery indicator hicked up

Thanks for the response and maybe that's my problem is the wifi. The inside camera is located far away from the wifi unit. The outside camera battery is still at 96% after a week. I will look into the rechargeable batteries for future use.
