Geofencing will repeatedly switch between "home" and "away" modes while I am sitting in my house. I have only one device (my S7 edge) set under enabled devices. My radius is set to large. It seemed to work fine until a week ago. If I walk around my house it seems to think I walked a mile away, instead of 50 feet. I know it's in beta, but seems more like alpha.

wedmservices,

Consider refreshing your enabled devices within Geofencing settings. Disable all listed devices, save and then enable the devices again.

If you are still seeing this behavior, do you notice any difference when you are connected to WiFi vs when you are connected to 4g?

Thanks James,

I tried resetting devices as described. No change. It's odd how it happens. Last night on WiFi for several hours, just sitting on couch, it happened again. Cycled "away" then "home". FWIW, I have all methods of location services enabled in location settings.

wedmservices,

The WiFi connection may not allow location to be detected as accurately. Do you notice any difference when you are connected to your mobile data (4g/3g) rather than WiFi?

Has anyone found a solution for this?  Geofencing was working fine for me until recently, and now seems to randomly toggle between home and away when I am home.

This is very frustrating.

armbrat,

It sounds like there could be an issue with the location radius size. Consider increasing your location radius within Geofencing settings (small -> medium, medium -> large).

My Arlo Q randomly switches to the "Away" mode while I am home. This generates several texts and emails when one of the dogs walks by. The Arlo then switches back to the "Home" mode. This happens about once a day, but never more than once.

don3535,

Are you logging out of the Arlo app? For Geofencing to work properly, you must leave the app running on your device.

I am not logging out of the program on my phone and I experience this problem about once every day for about 10 minutes.

Is it possible Android memory management is closing necessary Arlo connections? Still getting random "away" then "home" cycles. Believe me, I'm not moving.

Changing radius sizes has no effect.

Also, if Arlo briefly looses my location, due to network interference or GPS drops out, why assume I'm "away"? Shouldn't "away" depend on location detecting I am in fact "away"?

Ok, still frustrated with Geofencing. Is anyone experiencing these issues, also using Samsung's Good Lock?

Seeing the same here w/ Samsung Note 5. Started maybe amonth ago. Looking into the notification settings on the phone - Arlo was set as priority, I just changed it to allowed to see if any difference.

Geofencing lately has become significantly more reliable since uninstalling Samsung's Good Lock ui replacement. It seems to use the same geographical fencing technology that Arlo uses and I believe there was some incompatibility.

An extra small radius would be great! In an urban area, I would like Arlo to arm when I leave the building!
