Hi

I've just purchased the Arlo system (NOT PRO) at significant cost with four cameras.

My internet upload speed is typically maximum 0.5 MB at best - low bandwidth. I've noticed that this is not good for Arlo Cloud and my network connectivity. Really only good for people with fast internet connections.

Q. Are there some settings which would allow me to use the system using a local network storage or USB drive connected to the base station?

Q. Is there an alternative system for storage we can use with Arlo?

I not then I plan to return the units as it wasn't clear that there were no alternatives to data storage and viewing.

Regards

Fast is relative - good ol' Time Warner gives me 1Mbs and can only upgrade to 3.

The Q and Pro cameras have built-in storage capabilities although not like to a NAS. You'd have to unmount the storage and plug into a computer to see the videos. Once the system is set up, you could just let them record normally or unplug the network from the system so only local storage happens. Not neat and clean but possible.

IMO, the .5mb upload your service gives is below minimum and I don't think you'll ever be happy with the results....

Netgear recommends 1 mb up as the minimum and thos others have used this or lower at time, problem can occur.

q1) Local record is not available with the regular Arlo

q2) Prob not
