As the base station has USB ports how can I save images locally via a memory stick. Netgear says no. That’s not logical as images go to the hub so why not access to memory stick

The USB ports on the original Arlo were put in place for possible future option ( and maybe programming on Netgear's side ).

They were never activated and did not become usable for backup until the Pro base was release about 2 yrs later.

( tho they are powered, that's about it )

Unfortunately, that feature is only available on the Pro base. There were, however, threads about a script that allowed all recordings to be downloaded to your computer each day as a backup. Have a search for those if you don't find the 7 days free, or subscription length retention of the recordings is adequate enough for you to manually download important videos. If you want recordings due to the possibility of loss of internet connection, you'll need a Pro base

I have such script. If it's of interest, PM me your email address (do NOT post it here) and I'll send it along.
