So Everything I have read is that the lag for these is horrific and by the time it start either live view or recording the event is over. Is that truly the case? I am leaning towards the Arlo do to the look and the small footprint but if this is the case then I have heard D-Link works better.
Really I am looking for live view 95% of the time outdoors.
Also I have read different issue in regards to battery life and cost.
Oh also has anyone heard any updates on integration with Smartthings?

The startup time seems to vary among users... mine has always been < 2-3 seconds from detect to record. Camera placement in these cases is critial to get a possible shot of the subject you want and does take some trial and error. ( Arlo cams )
The Q cam (inside rated ) work faster and have pre-buffering so there is no delay and I capture 105% of what I want.

Yes, Spec use is 4 mins per day for rated battery life of 4-6 months ( on optimized video setting )... If you use the camera heavy ( live view or recording use the same amount of power ) you could possible drain the batteries in a couple weeks, That said, My batteries run just about 4months on my cameras in spec use or less while using them for detection record while not at home...some of my low use cams hit the 7 month mark ( never really viewed, just for detection record ).
Costs of batteries run ( oem cells ) $5-6 a pair when purchase in many stores but online I get mine for about $1.35 each as do many others

There has been talk it's coming in the future, but no solid info yet.
