Arlo HD Camera set to armed. What does it mean?

My base station is set to “armed”. Can someone explain to me what this means? Does that mean the base station was set off a siren alarm when motion is detected?

It means that the system is ready to receive recordings, notifications etc. from the cameras. If you have a base with a siren built in then you can also set the siren to ring on a per camera basis.
