Hi,

I'm am trying to help someone setup a new Arlo Base Station VMB3010 and cameras. They have owned this system for years and never unboxed it. The manufacture date listed is 2016. I am very technically proficient, system/network admin is my day job.

The issue is the Arlo app will not see the base station (I've also tried with PC via Arlo site). I am on the same wifi network as the base station. I have verified the base station is getting an ip address by scanning the subnet. I can ping the base station and the base station has two green LEDs indicating that it has internet access. The base station will also pair successfully with the cameras and then a 3rd green LED will appear indicating that cameras are paired.

I have also manually factory reset the base station several times using the paper clip method and waiting until all lights flash and then come on solid amber.

My inclination is that this base station needs a manual firmware update but I can find nothing regarding this or what method to take. I have the ability to SSH and do command line updates if that's an advanced option that is not publicly posted.

It's been reported that old firmware on devices that haven't been used in a long time (or ever) can't be updated. The only current choice would be to buy a new SmartHub.

Hi,

I tried your suggestion and purchased a Arlo Smarthub VMB4540

Base station is detected with no issues however when trying to pair the cameras the app never detects them. The blinking lights on the camera and the base station however appears to sync correctly. Both blink slow then begin to blink quickly in sync and then stop blinking. The smart hub stops blinking shortly before the camera does. I contacted Arlo support and they were unhelpful saying that the cameras are compatible but not supported.

Was able to get the camera connected by choosing "other" and then "arlo" rather than "pro". Everything working now with new Smarthub.

I'd like mine to be fixed (old firmware) either by having new firmware forced onto it or having it replacing with a SmartHub if they don't make base stations anymore.
