Hi,
I have a arlo basstation vmb4000 to my ARLO PRO cameras.
The network (wi-fi) name have changed from NTGR_VMB_############
to
ARLO_VMB_###########.

The thing is that i have not done any change with the basestation, it has just changed name.
I made a reset and the ”new” wi-fi name come up again. (ARLO_VMB_#########)

Do any of you have input how this could happen?

Thanks,

Br

Netgear spun off Arlo last year, so it is now it's own company.  One consequence is that Netgear references (NTGR in this case) are gradually being removed from the branding, software, etc.

This network is closed (only used by the cameras), so as long as they are working ok everything is fine.  I suspect the change was made in one of the recent firmware updates.

Why is the name visible in the first place?

With all the news with the other cams being hacked,

it's just screaming HERE I AM HACK ME TOO!

Anyone who would attempt to hack the system would see the SSID even if hidden. It's false security to hide the SSID.
