I have my Arlo App set to override the Do Not Disturb Setting in "App Notifications" on my Google Pixel 2 However, the sound alert is still not playing?

Are all other options checked on within the do not disturb section? Have you tried to remove & re-install the Arlo Mobile App/reboot your phone?

I'm having the same issue. I just tried reinstalling the app and rebooting my phone but that didn't fix it.
My phone is running Android 8.1.
* Arlo app is installed and I'm logged in
* Override Do Not Disturb is toggled on in my settings
* I set my phone to Do Not Disturb
* I armed the Arlo system
* I walked in front of a camera
* No sound was played on my phone (I held it to my ear)
* I looked at the phone and the notification was there
Edit: I should have mentioned - when Do Not Disturb is off then the notification sound does play.

Lilchef,
Which model phone are you experiencing the issue with?

I have a Wileyfox Swift 2 Plus. That is not a common phone but the original poster has a Google Pixel 2 which is more common so the issue is not just with my brand of phone.
