Not surprising, since the Nutone IMA 4006 isn't compatible with Ring doorbells either. 

 

If you google, you'll find some folks who've modified the wiring and gotten it to work with Ring.  If the mod actually works with Ring, it likely would work with Arlo.  It's not something I tried (and I'm not making a recommendation one way or the other).  You'd be "on your own".
