Is this common with these door bells? Not very good if my door bell is going to be down all summer...

I've never seen it with mine. The spec says it should work up to 45C (113F). If you are getting thermal shutdowns at lower temps, you might have a defective unit. You could exchange with the seller or contact support via the link at the top of the forum page.
