It keeps searching, and I even tried scanning the qr code.

Have you tried resetting the doorbell? There's an FAQ in the support section here on how to do that. Also verify that your transformer is providing the proper voltage and current.

I've tried everything, I even reset and turned off the router and started over but still can't get it. I am just going to return it to Amazon and go with something else.

If it's bad hardware, another brand may have the same issue - it's the nature of electronics that there's a failure rate. That's not unique to Arlo.

Which model base station do you have? Do you have any issues connecting directly to your WiFi?

Vmb4000, I've tried connecting direct to wifi but can't get it to work either.

If you're unable to connect to both base station and direct to WiFi, I encourage you to contact the Arlo Support Team to investigate further.
