arlo chime use instead of wired existing doorbell

I have existing arlo cameras and the base station. Purchased the arlo wired video doorbell. 

All installation went good- except the existing doorbell chime would not work. 

After checking all wiring connections- the electrician conclusion was an underpower transformer. The doorbell transformer is up in the unfinished attic somewhere- quick search did not reveal it.

I could spend a lot of electrician money to try to find the wiring. 

would the other solution to be just use an arlo chime and the heck with the wired- but of course leave all the wiring and unit in place when house is sold? Would chime just plug into a wall socket, get accessed through the base station and work?

Full Arlo chime compatibility is not yet available for Arlo Video Doorbell. You can set the chime up to play melodies when motion is detected but not when the doorbell is pressed. The Arlo Engineering team is working on implementing compatibility between the Arlo Video Doorbell and select Arlo Smart Hubs and base-stations to allow Arlo chime support. Stay tuned for more details as we prepare to release more details surrounding this upcoming support in the coming months.
