I have searched and read about people having problems with the doorbell not making the chime work but can't find a suitable answer. I have used the existing wiring but changed the transformer for the one supplied with the doorbell. Chime works off old push button switch but when the Arlo doorbell switch is connected, power kit connected in chime (set to 0 ) it will not chime. The arlo doorbell is connected to the network fine, I receive motion detection message and it rings my phone when the doorbell is pushed, but nothing from the chime (Friedland). Anybody have any ideas as it is driving me crazy.

Have you double-checked that the doorbell is configured for a mechanical chime in the app?
It might also be worth a short test with the power kit removed from the circuit (best not to leave it that way, but it should be safe for a short test).
It's possible that the chime isn't compatible.

Hello Stephen, thank you for your reply. When I check the settings it is set for Traditional Chime but then says `Not Connected'. What I don't understand is why it doesn't work when the Arlo is fitted but does when a normal push button is connected. Surely it is just a switch that when pressed sends the voltage to the chime ? I have just ordered a Grothe 24v mechanical chime, do you think this will solve the problem and when it arrives will the app recognise it or will I have to go through the whole proceedure again. Many thanks, Mark

It's more complicated than that, since the camera is always powered.

I haven't seen that particular symptom. Not sure if the chime you ordered will resolve the problem or not, but you might also want to try Arlo support.

Working ! Re-checked all the wiring, all ok. Checked the output from the supplied transformer, 30v which seems a bit high. Deleted the doorbell in the app and setup again. Hey presto, it now works.

30v could well be a problem. I'd changed the transformer to one that supplies anything in the 16-24 volt range.
