It is wired like a normal wired doorbell - low voltage AC coming from a transformer through the doorbell to the chime, with a return back to the transformer. There is kit that is installed across the two leads at the chime - this diverts power around the chime when the doorbell isn't being pressed. If there is no chime, then it isn't needed.
Voltage needs to be 16-24 vac, the power requirement is 10 VA.
