Found it. Not sure what I did differently but I do see the doorbell now and I am able accomplish what I set out to do. I now have my doorbell start recording when th motion detector on my fence detects motion. To give context, this motion detector triggers my lawn sprinklers to keep the neighbors cats out of my flowerbeds. I want the doorbell to record at the same time so I can monitor for false positives and also because its fun to watch the cats scramble 😉
