My Arlo wired video doorbell (SV A2G101KTA0452 Model number AVD1001-100NAS out of warranty) rings continuously with my Newhouse Mechanical Door Chime. If I disconnect the back door bell on the chime and only have the front doorbell chime connected to the chime, it stops ringing, but the video doorbell will not charge. I have the doorbell set to bypass both in the app and on the power adapter. Do I have to have the chime connected to both front and back doors for the doorbell to charge? If so, how to I get it to charge and stop ringing? The chime instructions say that it can work with either one or two doorbells attached.

What happens when you turn off the bypass?

Thanks for the response.  It doesn't matter whether I push the slide towards the X or towards the O.  It just seems to be dead if I don't have the back door connected.  And the doorbell does not charge when the back door is connected.  It just rings every second.

The video doorbell is the front door?

Yes, it is.  From looking at the chimes schematic and directions, you don't need to have two doorbells hooked up.

Correct.

Anyway, I am hearing that

(a) the power module is across the front doorbell lead and the center lead in the chime

(b) the video doorbell is in the front

and

(1) the video doorbell doesn't charge when the back doorbell is disconnected from the chime.

(2) the chime rings continously when the back doorbell is connected to the chime (even when it is not being pressed).

I'm not sure what the cause is, but I am wondering if you need a new transformer.

You could try support, or exchanging the doorbell with the seller.

Yes to all of that. Also, the doorbell won't charge when the back door IS connected.  The doorbell registers 18v so I didn't think it was the transformer, but maybe it is, that is the only thing I haven't tested because it is blocked from my reach.  Thanks for trying to help!

FWIW, my doorbell functioned oddly in the beginning.  The transformer measured ok, but replacing it solved the problems.

Okay. I may have to look into that. I’m putting that as a last resort because I can’t access it easily. I saw a suggestion in another forum that suggested that there may be a short in the line where one of the doorbells are connected but I doubt that is the case. Thanks again for getting back to me.
