Video Doorbell will not record video.

My video doorbell will not record video. I have a USB installed on the hub it says it needs formatting. When I ask it to format it says formatting spins for awhile and comes back and says it needs formatting again. This doorbell and another have never worked properly and Arlo support is awful. No one is available in the USA ever. I even wrote a letter to Arlo corporate. No reply no common communication. I would just like the equipment that I purchased to work.

How large is the USB device? Is it a disk or a thumb drive?
