Hello All,

I spent many hours trying to bypass the paid subscription in order to view videos of my Arlo doorbell.   Customer support could not figure why it would not work.  I was about to give up but these steps allowed me to get it working.  My 1st problem was that I plugged the ethernet cord into a wifi extender. This did not allow the library to show up. I kept getting a message that said there was a problem and my Arlo team is working on it.   Once I plugged the ethernet into the actual router I thought it would fix it.  Not so fast, one more step is required.  You need to have your phone on the same wifi as the original router.  After I figured that out, the library popped up.  Now it is not as nice as the cloud because it does not show a preview screenshot like the cloud until you view/download each clip.  I guess you get what you pay for.  At least I got it working and hope this helps someone figure out their problem.  Good luck.

FWIW, that should have worked.  Was the phone connected to the home wifi (or perhaps the extender wifi) when you tried this?

You can set up port forwarding (or use a VPN if your router has that option) to overcome that problem.  Though that won't work with some internet service providers.

There are some other limitations you might run into.

  1. recordings are only available in the app (not my.arlo.com)
  2. if you share the cameras (using the friend account feature), the "friend" will not be able to access the recordings.
