Nutone BK131LSN; Installation help

I installed Arlo Video Doorbell to the existing Nutone BK131LSN and halfway through the night it kept continuously chiming as if someone was ringing the doorbell. I ended up disconnecting the PowerKit and it kept ringing still, then I just removed it all together. 

I have checked the compatibility and have a 16V 10VA. Please advise.

Did you make sure the powerkit wasn't accidently in bypass mode?

It's possible that the transformer needs to be replaced - are you able to measure the voltage?

I was hoping I could rely on the reading on the transformer for 16V 10VA 

Is it usually that it reads higher?

I am thinking that it might be a bit low (either an aging transformer, or voltage drop in the wiring).
