I recently purchased the Gen 2 doorbell camera, hoping it would resolve the motion detection issues I experienced with the Gen 1 wired version—but somehow, the Gen 2 is even worse. While the 2K resolution is a nice upgrade, I care more about reliable notifications.

The Gen 1 consistently detected vehicles passing by, people walking near or up to the door, package deliveries, and even notified me when my truck entered or exited the driveway. For reference, my motion zone covers the entire field of view, including the driveway and sidewalk, and the motion sensitivity is set to the maximum.

At this point, I’m considering going back to the Gen 1, which I’ve already reordered. But I can’t help wondering—could this be a software or firmware issue rather than a hardware problem? I did notice the Gen 1 started underperforming in motion detection around March, which only adds to my suspicion that this might be tied to a recent update.

Should I stick with the Gen 2, switch back to the Gen 1, or consider looking into other brands altogether?

is the motion within the spec'd detection range?

Ive seen this chart before. The Gen 1 would pick objects up @ 30ft easily but now it struggles with 12' or so
