Doorbell gives horrible noises and feedback

After ringing the doorbell 'picks up' the call. However, it doesn't stop recording afterwards. It starts spiraling into louder and louder feedback until you can hear it halfway down the street. Kind of impressive but holy moly, is this a terribly annoying bug.
It won't function properly again until your try multiple times to restart.
Time and again this doorbell is giving me trouble and it drives me insane. I even pay for a premium package, but I don't see what for...

Recording doesn't create any feedback path as there is no mic or speaker being added. This must be something going wrong with the call.
Note the device that doesn't experience the feedback is the one that is causing it. So this is likely a failure of the echo cancellation on your phone.
Does the feedback stop if you mute your phone (or reduce the volume)? Alternatively, does it happen when you use a bluetooth headset)?
Also, does using the two-way talk feature trigger the same problem?
