So, messing with the Arlo app on my phone I managed to completely disabled traditional chimes on my Arlo wired doorbell by changing it from traditional to neither. and I can't get it back, when I tap of chime settings it says not connected. Does anyone know how to get to work again?

Unfortunately, you'll need to remove the doorbell from the account and add it back again.

Finally got around to do as you recommended, and after removing the doorbell last night and trying to add it back, it kept failing to connect. I verified that my phone was connected to my 2.4GHz  Wi-Fi, and that everything elss was entered correctly, the doorbell has power and I heard the chime like I was suposed to, but still I could not get it to connect up with the Arlo app.

So what are my options now? If I can’t connect it up I’m going to have to cancel my subscription and find another doorbell cam that will work.

If the doorbell was disconnected from the wires for a length of time, the small internal battery may have discharged and needs to charge back up to allow the doorbell to then be found.

Nope did not disconnect any wires, I did verify the wiring configuration on my actual chimes, but all I did was remove it from the app and tried to reconnect to it.

Okay doing a reset didn’t work.

I originally pointed out that while trying to figure out how to get the doorbell chimes to work I somehow disabled chime settings, one person said that I would need to remove the device and reinstall the device on the app, which I did, but that didn’t work. The device has power and while trying to reinstall the device with the app I would hear it chime but it would not sync up, even though I was connected to the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. Next, I was told that I would have to reset the device by removing it from it’s mount and pressing the reset pin on the unit, which I did as instructed, after which I tried once again to add it to the app and sync up, and it failed once again. Anyone have an additional advice, before I chuck this thing cancel my subscription and buy a new one from you competitor?

To be clear, this is the wired video doorbell, AVD1001, right? You selected that model but just wanted to be sure.

During setup you have the chance to tell it to use an existing traditional chime. This doorbell also requires the power kit to be connected at the doorbell to prevent it from humming, etc. Is that installed? If you touch the wires at the doorbell together does the chime sound properly? I don't have a traditional chime to check settings on for the doorbell but I'm not sure there would be anything to set there - it works for my Arlo chimes. A screenshot of these settings would be helpful in this case.

Yes it's a wired doorbell and the transmitter is connectd to the chimes, when I fist got this 2+ years ago you would hear the doorbell ring when someone press the button, but don't get a lot of visitors so I never realised it was;t workiing until a few months ago, then tried to go into the setting and then I locked myself out of selecting the chime type. When I get back home later, or tomorro will take a picture and attach it for verification.

Okay I connected a piece of wire to both contacts on my doorbell, and it did not chime as I thought it would, see attached photo of my doorbell

That is NOT a transmitter.  It is a power kit that is needed for the AVD1001 doorbell.  The purpose is to divert power around the chime except when the doorbell is pressed.

If you remove the doorbell, and then briefly touch the two wires together, do you hear a chime?  Don't connect a wire across those two wires - just touch them together briefly and then pull them apart again.

I probably did describe what I did, I used the wire and touched both contacts at the same time, not connected the wire across,

Oh, I typoed, I meant to say Didn't, not did, and and yes the power kit that came with the doorbell cam is connected and set to O as the instructions require. If I didn't have a normal doorbell would it work with the Arlo wireless chime device?

Ok.  Did the chime ring when you did that?

The Arlo chime only works with Arlo doorbells.  You can use it either instead of a traditional chime - or in addition to a traditional chime.

FWIW, I couldn't figure out what you said. Do you know if the doorbell is getting power?
