Can the Video Doorbell operate without a Smart Plan?

Does the Video Doorbell have any storage without a Smart Plan?  I use 3 Arlo Pro cameras without the plan since I don't need 30-day storage, etc. and would like to use the Video Doorbell in the same way.

Currently, no. Because the doorbell connects to the router there's no local storage so cloud storage is needed. If/when the ability to connect to a base/hub becomes available, I would expect that the base/hub storage would be available.
