I'm looking into purchasing the Arlo video doorbell to supplement my existing Arlo Pro cameras/system. I would like to know if the manufacturer has addressed the lack of local recording. As I understand the video doorbell doesn't integrate with the Arlo Chime, which is insane, because it's a no brainer to pair them. The video doorbell is described as a separate system than the existing Arlo camera kits and runs independently. I can't justify the purchase if I would be forced to subscribe to a cloud recording service. The local storage included with the Arlo Pro camera system suits my and I'm sure many other's needs just fine. The products are costly enough without adding a mandatory monthly fee to subscribe to a recording service that's essentially built into the base stations.

At this time, Arlo Video Doorbell does not feature local storage. The Arlo Video Doorbell can trigger the Arlo Chime to play a melody on motion detection, but the Arlo Chime can not be triggered on a doorbell press.

For recordings to be saved to the Arlo Cloud, Arlo Video Doorbell requires a subscription to Arlo Smart.
