I purchased a Arlo Wired Doorbell Camera a year ago.  Installed it at my home and it worked great.  I recently moved to another home and installed it at my current residence, and it doesn't work.  I changed the transformer, and it still doesn't work.  I know there is power to the doorbell because I took a voltage meter and measured the current passing through.  In fact, when I unhook the Arlo doorbell and touch the wires the doorbell chimes.  I mean nothing lights up on the doorbell.  I mistakenly left my power kit switch in my old home and that is the only thing I can think of that is different.  I attempted numerous times to contact Arlo but as you can figure no luck.  I'm sure someone else has experienced this issue.  Is there any way to just purchase the power kit switch? Thanks!

What voltage are you measuring? What is the power rating of the transformer (generally spec'd on the label as VA).

The power kit diverts power around the chime when the the doorbell isn't being pressed.  That

  1. ensures that the doorbell will receive power all the time
  2. protects the chime (since it was not designed to have power flowing through it all the time).

Without the powerkit, the chime often will misbehave - either buzzing or chiming when the doorbell isn't being pressed.

Unfortunately Arlo doesn't sell them separately.

One test you could try is to bypass the chime (connecting the two wires directly to each other, and not to the chime.  See if that results in powering the doorbell.

I am thinking that you might need to replace it.  The wirefree version might be a good choice, as it has no powerkit - it is designed to trickle-charge from the transformer.  It is a bit thicker.  Motion detection range is shorter, and it doesn't have foresight.  (In many situations, shorter motion range is a plus).

Anyway, if you end up replacing it, you might want to contact Arlo support.  They might offer you a discount on a new one.

Power rating of the transformer is 24v.  My meter measured 22 coming through when I tested the two wires connected to the doorbell.

Are you referring to Arlo Support via Chat because I can't reach them other than the robotic chat.  Thanks for your trouble shooting assistance.  Like you said I might need to purchase a new one.

If you have a subscription (either paid or trial) then you can go into the support area of the app (NOT my.arlo.com).  Select a camera in the subscription plan (doesn't matter which one), and then scroll down to the contact area.  You'll see a phone support option there (if you have a subscription).
