Arlo Essential Wired Doorbell Won't Connect to VMB5000

I have a wired doorbell, up to date with firmware as it was on my wifi until earlier today and working as intended. Today I received by VMB5000 Smart Hub and have it set up. It is connected to the internet and up to date with firmware as it checked and updated as soon as it was installed. It shows up as online in my Arlo app. I removed by doorbell from my account to prepare it to move over the the smart hub, and I have also tried a manual reset of the doorbell with the button on the back. Each time the light ring gets to solid white, I press the button the start pairing and it blinks as expected. The app says the hub is searching for arlo devices but never finds it. The hub is only about 15 feet from the doorbell so I would hope there are not signal issues, and the wifi was able to connect over a similar distance. I would really like to move things over to Homekit and want to get the hub working like it should. Any suggestions to try? I am on iOS and have checked multiple times that the app is up to date, even reinstalled the app once.

When you reset the doorbell did you follow this procedure?

Have you rebooted the hub?
