I have the Arlo Essential Video Doorbell HD Video Night vision 2-way audio direct to wi-fi no hub needed wired or wireless doorbell.  It is WIRED to my existing chime.  Everything works on it BUT, it doesn't "Record" and there is no record option in the Arlo Web Portal when i select the doorbell camera.  It comes up and the view is great, microphone works, notifications work, but it doesn't record anything.  The "Record" option is not there.  I'm wondering if i have a unit that doesn't provide recordings???? why have the camera if it doesn't record other than seeing someone at my porch when they ring the bell but that is not why i purchased the video doorbell.  Serial NUmber is AE1236KW01273 on my doorbell.  looking for solution.  Removing the device and "Reinstalling" doesn't fix or do anything.    under the "Settings" option in the portal, there is video settings but not an option for "Record" settings....nothing there. 😞

No I do not have a subscription

The video doorbells (like all currently sold Arlo cameras) require a subscription to get cloud storage.

  1. Do you have a subscription for the doorbell (paid or trial)
  2. Is the system in "Arm Away" or "Arm Home" mode?  You can see the mode it is in by looking at the dashboard screen.  The current mode is in color, the other two are gray.
