AVD & Base Station

Hello all...

New member here, recently purchased the AVD and to my surprise without a subscription I can’t do much with this product. It’s akin to a brick as I can’t even record a live event to my phone etc.
With that said I’m asking if anyone has been able to link this product to their base unit and review footage as I understand it only select base units will work. I also understand the AVD app cannot be used as it requires a subscription to pull data off the Arlo cloud.

You should have gotten a trial subscription when you installed the doorbell. After that expires you either need to subscribe or use local recording on a supported base (VMB4000 and up, I believe - check the compatibility FAQ in the support section here). Note that if you want to use the app to view local recordings directly you need a VMB4540 or higher. Otherwise, you'll need to safely eject the drive to view on a computer.

BTW, this is true of all Arlo cameras newer than the Pro 2.
