Im so fed up with Arlo and their crappy products. ive decided im moving on after the price hike and 1 year grace period for grandfathered price plan is over. The latest issue im P/O'ed about is my AVD v1 not recording the specified 2 minutes. it responds like it's set to stop when motion stops. all of my other cameras actually record the full 2 minutes. Not sure if the fact that the AVD is the only one on wifi but it's very annoying because when I had it connected to a base station, the reception was super flaky. any suggestions? I've factory reset, changed all settings related to recording , zones, sensitivity, etc... Btw, when setting a zone and smart notifications set to persons only, motion of any kind outside the zone still get recorded but as a person.

Under Rules and then Modes can you make sure that you have it for a specific amount of time instead of until activity stops.

Thanks for the reply but as per usual, you moderators respond with generic, useless responses. I have changed/ set modes recording times (2 min) and no change in actual recording. I have multiple cameras and the 2 avd are the only ones on WiFi and the only ones with this behavior. I have or have had upwards of 10 cameras and over 10 years of arlo camera experience so please do treat me as if this is user error. This is either a function of WiFi or a glitch in arlo’s software

This suggests a connection problem, perhaps due to 2.4GHz interference. Which doorbells do you have - wired or wire-free? Can you connect them to your base/hub for testing? If they are the wireless version, what happens if you bring one inside the door to see if that helps?

Thanks for the reply. I have 2 wired avd so can’t move but I did run a mesh WiFi node to the outside near the avd. Recording had been normal when connected to base station but the reception was horrible.

What is the house construction? That can make a big difference in the signal with stucco being the worst due to the wire mesh used to hold it. STone and other materials may also cause significant signal issues.
How close is the base to the router? Moving it as far away as practical may help. Also, connecting the base to one of your mesh nodes could be useful as long as all cameras still have a good connection.

House is stone front but I have had the base station temporarily hard wired to a mesh node on the front porch feet away from the AVD-result flaky communication between base and AVD but normal 2 min recording.
“How close is the base to the router? Moving it as far away as practical may help”. Not sure what you mean because the base station is hard wired so comm from base to router shouldn’t be an issue. In summary, I don’t think signal is an issue with any equipment. The mesh node is hard wired outside 15-20’ from the avd, the base station is hardwired but inside the home but avd is not connected to the base.

It's not about the comm between the base and the router.
The router (or mesh element) wifi transmitter can overload the base station wifi receiver if it is too close (similarly in the other direction). So I do recommend putting the base as far from the router as the supplied cable will stretch. There have been several users here who found that resolved their connection problem.
Do all your cameras (and the AVD) all lose their connection at the same time?

Ok now we may be getting somewhere. No cameras lose connection. Issue is the avd, WHEN ON WiFi only records (when it thinks) motion starts>stops. I can make up Ethernet cables as long as needed to get away from any network element though at various points in troubleshooting poor video transmission I’ve have the avd connected to different bases (3) that were not near a node. And none of the other cameras record in this manor. I don’t have any WiFi cable cameras to check but I’m sure this is a function of WiFi compatibility rather than a base station issue.

Have you double-checked the rule in the mode(s) you've been using?
Do you see "Library" in your app menu? Or do you instead see "Feed" and "Dashboard"?
