Cameras aren't included in the 1.0 Matter specification, and the 2.0 spec (which should include cameras) isn't targetted for release until 2024.  See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matter_(standard)

Hopefully Homekit support for the AVD2001 will come out well before then. Arlo hasn't said what the hold-up is on the AVD2001, but my guess is that the issue is getting Apple Certification.  Note I don't work for Arlo, and have no inside information.

FWIW, although Arlo has joined the Matter Consortia ( https://csa-iot.org/ ), that doesn't mean that all existing Arlo products will support Matter.  Arlo didn't commit to that in their press release (and they shouldn't have, since the standard that includes cameras doesn't even exist yet).

Bummer! …  I didn’t realise that camera’s were a different “matter” specification and it’s still to be developed. I certainly wouldn’t have bought the arlo doorbell.
