Installed my Arlo wire free video doorbell a few months ago and all was fine. About two weeks ago, the doorbell stopped recording video. The chime would come on when the doorbell was pushed, but no video. Live video will not work either. I replaced the battery with a fully charged battery and all worked okay for a couple of days and now it is doing it again.

I am on the internet, not a base station. The internet is very strong where the doorbell is located.

I have the Arlo Secure plan, so lack of a plan is not the problem.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Bob

But is the camera shown as enabled in the plan? You can check by looking in the Smart Notifications section under the Active Cameras or, if still on the old user interface, Settings, Subscription, Manage Cameras.

Yes, the camera is enabled in the plan. There are a few cameras on the plan, no problem with them. The only temporary fix I have found is each time the camera fails, I remove the battery, wait about a minute and reinstall the battery. The camera will work for a few days, then stop recording video during motion and when the button is pushed.  Also, while testing it, I walked up to the door and the motion lights will light up, but will not record any video.

Thanks,

Bob

Are you monitoring how quickly the battery is draining?

The battery seems to be fine. The first time I swapped to battery out with another, the old battery was around 70% (that was after a couple of months with the battery installed). I swapped it out to verify if the battery may have been causing the problem. After I  replaced the battery and all was well, after a couple of days the camera quit recording during motion and pushing the button, the battery was still at 100%. Yesterday, I removed the battery, waited about a minute, then put the battery back in and it is working okay.  As stated in a previous email, this only resolves the problem for a couple of days, then the problem reoccurs. I'm suspect that I have a defective doorbell.

I have verified that the firmware is up to date as well and I have a strong wi-fi signal.

On 3-11-23 I removed the battery, waited 60 seconds, then put the battery back in.  That was 7 days ago and it is still working.  Normally it quits working after a couple of days, so we’ll see.
