The doorbell itself only connects with WiFi - either to your home network or the closed wifi network created by an Arlo base/smarthub.
A base/smarthub needs to connect to your home network via ethernet.
As far as power goes, the doorbells can be powered from the low-voltage AC transformer that is typically used with traditional doorbells+chimes. The AVD1001 requires this power, and is spec'd for 16-24 VAC and at least 10VA. The AVD2001 trickle-charges its battery from the AC power, and is spec'd for 8-24 VAC.

⁃ IS FOOTAGE ENCRYPTED ON LOCAL STORAGE:
Local storage is only on a SmartHub/base, not in the doorbell itself. Max capacity for USB (VMB4xxx base) is 2 TB. The same max capacity is claimed for the VMB5000 microSD storage, but AFAICT from posts here, no one has every successfully used a card larger than 512 GB.
Local Storage is formatted as FAT32, and is not encrypted.

Arlo says "yes" to the second question on data-in-motion, but doesn't give an answer to the first question on data-at-rest.
@JamesC might be able to give a definitive answer to the data-at-rest encryption question.

Just motion (or manual recordings). There is a continuous video recording subscription (CVR) available for some cameras, but not the doorbells.
