We have a very small front porch, and the video doorbeldoesn’t start recording until you’re literally on the front porch 5 feet away….our old camera used to start recording when someone was on the street. It picked up every car that went by. Is there any way to make the doorbell record from a distance? If not, this doorbell is very disappointing.

Have you changed the motion sensitivity setting in your modes and rules?

Is there anything blocking the IR sensors?  Maybe clean the doorbell surface and see if that helps.

Just thought of this - did you remove the protective plastic sheet from the front of the doorbell when installing it?

I just checked, and yes it was removed. I just don’t understand why you have to be so close for the camera to start recording.

It should be able to detect motion out to 20-25 feet.

Have you confirmed the 5-foot distance limit with the motion detection test?  Or are you just looking at the recordings?
