Do I HAVE to pay a monthly subscription to have the Arlo Video Doorbell and Chime 2?

I purchased the Doorbell and chime. I don't want to have a monthly plan, I just need to have a doorbell that has the camera. Do I absolutely have to pay a monthly subscription for them to work? If not, what features will I still have with out the subscription?

Basically, you won't have any services once the trial runs out. I believe the doorbell will still work with the chime and may still call your phone (not sure about that) but no recordings, activity zones to minimize false triggers from the street, etc. A single camera plan isn't horribly priced and is in line with, say, streaming services.
