Automations only work when app is open

Arrive/Leave automations will only work when my app is open on my Samsung Galaxy S24. The app closes if left running in the background so in order to force the automation I have to open the app when leaving and arriving, defeating the purpose of the feature.

The setup is correct and geofencing is enabled but nothing triggers unless the app is open.

I've found nothing on the forums or online elsewhere. Has anyone else has this problem?

Not sure what's up but Samsung phones/OSes have caused issues before. Is there a way to set the phone's settings for the app to keep it alive?

That was it! The background usage limit was set to "Restricted" for the Arlo app. Changing it to "Unrestricted" fixed the issue.
