Just had to replace my Nest wired doorbell camera in an emergency, and i purchased the Arlo AVD4001 because the box said the battery life was 4 to 6 months, but i have to recharge it every week... It is used in a cold climate and i have set up zone to avoid detecting people just walking on the sidewalk (but it still does).
Why is the battery life so awful ? Can you help ?
Sorry to say, but cannot wait to get my Nest fixed

Is the AVD4001 connected to the same transformer the Nest doorbell was using?
It sounds like there are two factors here
- the cold weather
- the high activity level
While activity zones will reduce notifications, they do not help battery life. Whenever the doorbell sensor detects motion, it streams video to the cloud. Then the cloud supresses recordings on notifications when the motion is outside the zone.
