Set up is currently an AVD2001 Aer1.3 Video Doorbell running 1.10.XXX firmware connected to home Wifi network 2.4G channel. VMB4540r4 Base Station running 1.28.XXX firmware with Toshiba Canvio 2TB Drive plugged into router. And potentially an Outdoor Wired Floodlight Security Camera if I can get this to work.
I used to have a subscription but didn't feel it was value for money so am trying to move to local storage via the above set up. Everything is set up in the app and I can see the storage available. The camera and base station are both set to armed and I can see the option to alert for motion but the one to record is greyed out. Is this not possible?
Also, from reading some other threads I believe that there might be some limitations on watching the recordings via the app / base station combination although most of those users had the 4000 version of the base station. If anyone is clear on this is would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

If you have a thumb drive with 16 GB or more storage, then I suggest trying that.
Also, double-check that the AVD2001 is connected to the smarthub, and not to your home wifi. Local storage requires the cameras/doorbells to be connected via the smarthub.

Do you mean plugged into the smarthub?
Is the drive formatted as FAT32?
Note the smarthub only delivers USB 2.0 power, which might not be enough.
2TB is a lot more than you need. I generally recommend using a 128-512 GB thumb drive.

Yes. The Toshiba drive is plugged into the smart hub via USB. It’s formatted correctly although i had to do it via my laptop as the Arlo system failed a couple of times. It looks to be working fine as I can see it showing 1.81TB free storage on the app interface.

Any ideas anyone or is it just a matter of returning the hardware as not fit for purpose?
thanks

Thank you.
I hadn't realised I needed to connect the doorbell via the smarthub, I'd assumed by adding the smarthub to my system with the doorbell that they would automatically connect but obviously that isn't the case.
The storage is working fine for video recordings, even if the size might be a bit overkill!
