Hi.. Essential Video Doorbell Wire-Free is a battery operated device, that can optionally be hardwired to a 8-24V AC wiring outlet from an existing doorbell / chime system. When hardwired, the battery can receive a trickle charge through the wires and a traditional mechanical or digital chime can be rung. A power kit is not required because even when wired, the functional operation is always from the battery and a very small current is drawn which prevents unwanted buzzing.
