Received and installed the video doorbell 2K only to discover that it detects motion only within 9 feet of it. So why are there motion zones then?

Separate question... Is there any way to set a time period between motion notifications so that it's not going off constantly when I am sitting on my porch? Is my only option to put it in standby?

FWIW, the spec is 13 feet.

I think activity zones still do have value, since the camera has 180-degree field of view.

No, there is no way to set a time window like that.

You can put the system in standby, or mute the alerts on your phone:

  1. Press the profile icon in the upper left of the app
  2. Select notifications
  3. Press mute notifications
  4. Select 30 minutes, 1 hour, 3 hours, or 24 hours

Thanks! I've tried the zone going all the way across my yard, but it still only detects motion for the 9 feet in front of the doorbell.

I will have to use the standby mode because I want to save battery life. Silencing the notifications won't do that.
