Hi, I have had the original essential Arlo wired doorbell for three months and I’ve had a lot of issues and it won’t connect to any of my Alexa devices. Amazon have agreed to take it back with refund and I am looking at purchasing either the ArloHD or Arlo 2K it appears they do not seem to have a dedicated Wired model In this range.

1) if I wire the generation two wireless doorbell which has a rechargeable battery if in a few years the battery has failed but the doorbell is still wired as I always wish it to be Will I need to change the doorbell because the battery is not replaceable or will the doorbell keep working, even without the battery full charge or being viable?

2) has anybody seen a significant benefit to the 2K compared to the HD other than the definition of the picture? This will be for an elderly lady in her 90s so 2K is not so important for her but I’m interested as the 2K comes with a bundled chime But the HD doesn’t and will have to get the chime separately.

Thank you

PSCuk,

1) If the doorbell is set up in a wired configuration, the doorbell will continue to receive power and the battery will maintain a trickle charge. If you experience any failure with the battery, I would encourage you to reach out to the support team to investigate as a failure in this area would not be expected under normal conditions for the doorbell.

2) There is a community discussion on HD vs 2K here that may help you better understand which model will work best for you: https://community.arlo.com/t5/Arlo-Video-Doorbell-2nd-Gen/2K-v-HD-What-is-the-difference/m-p/2093580
