I have an arlo doorbell 2nd gen AVD 3001, auto HDR does not appear to be working and I can find no setting for it in the app, usually found under video settings.  Anyone else experience this problem

Hi @tctoms

What you are experiencing is by design. The AVD3001 does not have HDR capabilities.

I was able to have the team replicate this. The Arlo development team is currently investigating reports of this behavior. We will provide an update as soon as we have more information to share with the community.

Hi @tctoms

How have you determined that the HDR feature is not working?

Thanks

When sun shining directly on the camera the video quality is just a white washed out picture.  There is also no button under video settings (or elsewhere) to switch auto HDR on or off

Can you provide a screenshot of the settings menu from the Arlo app > Devices > Select camera settings/Cog Wheel > Video Settings > Screenshot missing option?

Was this HDR option visible previously?

Sorry seem to be having a problem attaching the screenshot but the HDR option has never been visible under video settings.  My question is should it be there.  My understanding is that this should be an option on this camera.  If it is missing is this a defect with the camera.  The camera was installed by verisure as part of my home alarm system. I have had them check it but they have just said if the toggle to switch auto HDR on or off is not there than it is not included.  Any help you can provide to point be in the right direction would be much appreciated

Are you certain this is the 2nd gen doorbell, and not the older AVD2001?

I am asking because the Verisure website shows the AVD2001, not the 2nd gen model.  The AVD2001 has a removable battery, the 2nd gen doorbells do not.

The older AVD2001 does not have the HDR feature.

@StephenB my AVD2001 doorbells certainly have the Auto HDR feature shown.

OP, have you tried reinstalling the doorbell? Sometimes that works.

I had the AVD 2001 originally and yes it had the auto HDR. The audio stopped working on that one and they replaced it with 2nd generation AVD 3001 this is supposed to be the next version up but the auto HDR is not there.  Verisure who installed it for me saying if it is not there it is not an option on that camera.  But I cannot believe that Arlo would release a new version replacing AVD 2001 without Auto HDR making it a poorer version then it's predecessor.  I don't know if anyone else has the same problem with AVD 3001

It is definitely 2nd generation.  I did have AVD 2001 but this had to be replaced as audio stopped working on it and verisure are now using 2nd generation AVD 3001.  By the way AVD 2001 the previous one I had did have Auto HDR but the 2nd generation at least the one that have installed does not.  I think there has to be a problem with the camera unless someone can confirm that AVD 3001 does not have this option

My bad.  I neglected to check the datasheets for the AVD1001 and AVD2001, and was working from memory.  All the video doorbells should have HDR.

Thanks for the feedback.  Verisure are not being very helpful just telling me if the feature is not there the camera does not have it.  I would be grateful for your further feedback when it is available.  Many thanks

Hi just wondering if you received any more feedback from the arlo development team.  For your info I think a new firmware has been downloaded on the camera which may have fixed the problem as I no longer have a white washed out picture when sun is shining directly on the camera and picture quality seems to be improved.  However I still cannot see an HDR setting under video settings to switch between auto and off not that I would turn this feature off. Maybe it is now a hidden feature? Let me know if you have any further info.  Many thanks
