Can Arlo Video Doorbell 2nd Gen connect to VMB5000? I tried to follow this link below but it doesn’t work.

Arlo Video Doorbell 2nd Gen (AVD3001 and AVD4001) is not yet compatible with Base Stations/SmartHubs. This feature is planned for a future firmware release.

Hi, thanks for releasing the firmware! I followed the steps but couldn't migrate my video doorbell 2nd gen to my base station. I deleted the doorbell from my account, and added it back and chose the base station instead of direct wifi. It appears the App can connect to the doorbell and the base station without problem when start pairing, but it always stuck at stage "Searching for the device in our system..." for long time and eventually fails with "Doorbell failed to connect.". I have tried several times and all failed in the same way.

As companion, when I connect doorbell to direct wifi,  "Searching for the device in our system..." finished in a few seconds.

Also my base station connects to other 4 cameras today and they are fully functional.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

My devices:

Video Doorbell 2nd gen: AVD4001Aer1.3 (1.5.0_1059_eb10395)

Base station: VMB4000r3 (1.25.1.0_4598_1f1c874)

I had the same problem.

I reseted everything : I uninstalled Arlo app from my cell and re-installed it, and I restart my cell. I reseted my hub and resynchronized my cams and doorbell. Then it works.

I hope it will work for you.

Thank you @NicoleRoc this works for me!

However, I had wrong assumption that connecting to base station will bring the doorbell to Homekit but looks like it doesn't. @JamesC Do we have any timeline for Homekit support? Thanks!

petrosliu,

Base Station support is the first piece needed to allow for Apple Home integration. Now that the firmware allowing Base Station integration is complete, we're working on getting Apple Home certification for gen 2 devices. Once this is complete, we'll make an announcement here on the community.

@JamesC  Arlo released the app in version 5.2 yesterday and one update is:

- Local Storage access for Arlo SmartHub and Base Station (VMB5000 or VMB4540) is now available from the feed.

I do have local storage, I do have 5.2 and VMB5000 but the recordings (new ones of today) do not appear in the Feeds area, do you know if there are firmware updates etc. required on the SmartHub to work?

Thanks and AMAZING in case I did not misunderstood this feature 😉

Are you seeing the local recording in the old spot (storage settings)

@StephenB  hmm, good spot, no. Checked via Devices -> SmartHub -> Storage stettings the alerts of this morning I do not see the recording of the both alerts interesstingly (e.g. from video doorbell 2nd Gen) plus a most recent one (the only one today) has 0 seconds. I'll restart my both SmartHubs, maybe that helps.

Checked also the storage status = good including port-forwarding works as well.

ok also when rebooting the Smarthub (no new alerts, lets see if its changing when something is coming up) hitting the Feeds tab its mentiongin that I need to subscribe to see video recordings.

When opening a device via dashboard/Widget I get an error below the image "A problem occured while loading from the Feed-Events" - I can hit "try it again". However waiting a little bit I get the same message as in the feeds that I need to subcribe to use "feeds".

I rebooted both SmartHubs (VMB5000) local storage works, I can see the recordings (right before a new event) via the "old style" but nothing in Feeds. Feeds is stating that I need to buy a subscription 😞

So this announced feature in the Arlo App 5.2 seems not to work:

- Local Storage access for Arlo SmartHub and Base Station (VMB5000 or VMB4540) is now available from the feed.

@JamesC  do you know why its not working as documented in the 5.2 release notes?

These features aren't enabled yet for all users. The foundation for this is in the 5.2 release but you may not see the new local storage location until the rollout is 100% complete. Keep an eye on the release notes for future app updates for more information.

@JamesC  it's there 🙂 nice a new tab within the Feed tab called "local". Say THANK you to the developpers please and in case they can consider to select multiple Smarthubs to see all recordings would be nice. As for now I have to switch between the hubs (1 or 2) to see the recordings, would be cool having the option to select both to see all recordings of all smarthubs in the system 😁

@JamesC local storage is nicely shown in the feeds now on my iOS device, however on my wifes Android device she is now not seeing any local storage videos anymore. In Feeds there is no local storage option and when going the "old-route" there is nothing shown at all. Is it known that this "feature" of having the local storage videos in the feeds tab is as for now only available for iOS users?

James I have an Arlo Video Doorbell 2nd Gen and a VMB4000 base station, but I have tried numerous times to connect them without success despite having the latest firmware updates. Restarted, factory reset, etc. Any idea what else I could do? I go through the setup process and click connect with Smarthub, it check for firmware updates and tries to connect and after a minute or so says "Doorbell Failed to connect."

VMB4000r3 - firmware 1.25.1.0_4598_1f1c874

Video Doorbell 2 - AVD4001Aer1.3 - firmware 1.5.0_1059_eb10395
