What does the smart hub do? Do I need one? I want to run 3 cameras and a doorbell. I will have one camera that will be just in range of the WiFi, would the smart hub be helpful for that?

Smarthubs provide local storage, and in some ways make the cameras easier to manage. At the moment you can't connect the AVD2001 (wire free doorbell) to a smarthub, but you can connect the AVD1001.
The smarthub doesn't give you more range than your wifi generally does - both are subject to the same power limits.

@Jen0873 Also it depends on witch model camera you are looking at since you posted in the Ultra forum, Most including the Ultra require a Hub but the newer Pro4, Pro3 Floodlight (not the spotlight) and Essential series cams can connect directly to your Wifi.
