Hi All, I have a long skinny block and I am struggling using my existing cable network at my home to position the base station where all six cameras work. I have read the arlo instructions and Youttube video and it says you can extend the network by using a range extender,
The video says plug the base station into the range extender?
I don't understand this as the base station only has one network plug which is for its connection to the the router.
Does anyone know how to add an extender to Arlo?
Thanks

You need to use a wifi extender that has an ethernet port. Then you connect the base station to that ethernet port instead of connecting it directly to the router.
Then the network path is base -> ethernet -> extender -> wifi -> router.
You can alternatively use powerline network adapters (using one at the base, and the other at the router).

If you don't already have a wifi extender then an alternative is to use Powerline Ethernet for the connection between the router and your remote hub. So long as your home's mains circuit can support powerline.

I have been using the Netgear 1200 powerline extenders for about 4 years now since I don't have a wired home and use them at my daughters house. That covers smart TVs and x-box, printers and Roku. They work great. The only time I had an issue is putting to many on one circuit, then there were occasional issues. Just move it to another circuit and all is fine. Powerline or extender with ethernet, personal choice. Even so depending on situation it may also need a 2nd hub to that extender.
