i just recently went back to Edge from Chrome. The "video won't play in browser" I forgot about was killing me. The info regarding the a resolution was zero help. Suggestions to add HEVC extensions were basically worthless. I fixed it on my Dell Inspiron 7700 AIO. Granted, it may not work on other machines but it did for me. 

In Windows setup I changed the graphics setting for Microsoft Edge to "High performance" and disabled "Optimizations for windowed games". System > Display > Settings: Custom settings for applications.
