Hello all,
I have seen in a few older discussions that the Arlo camera will work whilst connected to mains power (via the magnetic power adapter) without a battery.
Please can I validate this as my understanding is that the external power connection is only to keep the battery topped up and will in fact not work without a working battery in the device. to be clear, my experience shows Arlo Ultra does NOT appear to work with: no battery installed, or a deep discharged or other faulty battery installed.
thanks

Actually that is not the case. When connected to a USB charger, the Ultra will enable some hardware features that are not used when on battery or solar power. That includes hardware processing for activity zones, and the foresight feature. So it is not just trickle-charging the battery.
Though I haven't tried this lately, the Ultra should run w/o the battery when connected to the charger.
Are you using the Arlo charger? If not, is it a 5v/2a charger, or something with less overall power?
