Hi everyone,

I just bought the Arlo Ultra 2 and have a question about motion detection.

Is motion detection based only off the IR sensor or can it also use pixel based movement?

I’ve setup activity zones but the detection is happening outside of that zone on my neighbours property, which I don’t want to happen.

As it’s my first time using this product I’m not sure if maybe I’ve set it up wrong?

Can anyone share how they’ve got their camera’s setup to get the best recording.

Thanks

The Ultra just uses the IR sensor.   Some Arlo cameras use pixel detection when AC powered, but the Ultra/Ultra 2 isn't one of those.

Since the IR sensor is not pixel based, it will trigger both in-zone and out-of-zone.  The cloud then looks at the streamed video and if it decides there is no in-zone motion it will supress the cloud recording and the notification. It has no way of knowing what exactly triggered the PIR sensor - so even slight motion in-zone (leaves, etc) can result in the notification/recording not being surpressed.

The video will still be stored in the local storage (if you have that set up).

You could try deleting and then recreating the zone.
