I have had Arlo camera's for many years now and I've always had issues keeping them online, recording motion, & keeping them online in my app etc. I have 5 cameras, 3 Ultra's and 2 Pro4 around the outside of my house. I have Verizon Fios gigabit service which gives me plenty of bandwidth you would think for these such camera's. I have the VMB5000 base (On my 2nd floor centrally located) and I pay for the "Plus Unlimited" service to ensure good coverage. What can I possibly do to get consistent monitoring? I'm at the point where It may be better to just go another route. I've been unhappy with the performance and dependability since the beginning, many years back. I'm hoping you can help me get some kind of performance from these otherwise I'm going to have to cut my losses. Please advise

My first step would be to bring a problem camera (maybe the most troublesome one) closer to your hub to see if that changes the symptoms. you may also want to move the hub as far as practical away from the router.

My suspicion is that it's not your speeds or internet connection but something about your environment that's causing this. Distance can be an issue but also house construction and interference can play in there, too.

Hi jguerdat, thanks for the quick reply. With Verizon Fios, you get a router in the basement or wherever your cable comes in, then you get a large WiFi extender somewhere else, in my case 2nd floor. I had the hub connected to the extender on the 2nd floor which may not be optimal since its just an extender. I just took the hub to the basement which is partially on the ground floor to see if this makes a difference. I'll post back once things reconnect and I have time to see how things look.

FWIW, it's actually a two-element mesh router (the extender is a satellite).

In any event, try measuring the wifi speed with your phone at the camera locations.  You can use the free Ookla speedtest app.  Turn off mobile data on the phone during the test.   That will give you some idea on whether the wifi connection is adequate at the camera locations.
